Enjoy Vancouver’s Blossoming Beer Scene Right in your Backyard

  • Commercial Drive real estate has become such a hot commodity

There are countless reasons why Commercial Drive real estate has become such a hot commodity, and its recognition as one of the city’s hippest neighbourhoods has certainly contributed to that.  While everyone has a different definition of  “hip,” it is hard to argue that the burgeoning craft beer scene in North America and around the world has created its own culture of artsy, experience-driven imbibers.  As you explore Commercial Drive real estate, you will undoubtedly notice the amount of restaurants, cafes, and bars that line the street.  Hidden among these in and around the Commercial Drive neighbourhood, however, are also some of Vancouver’s favourite microbreweries.  The four below provide great places to hang out and sip on some of the city’s finest brews.

Bomber Brewing: The Quintessential Canadian Brewery

Bomber Brewing is young, having been started in Winter 2014, but it has quickly made a name for itself as one of the city’s favorite breweries.  What’s more, the story behind the brewery is quintessential Canada – it was created by three friends, and teammates, on the Bombers Hockey Club! Since it’s inception, Bomber has developed a lineup of delicious and unique beers for all seasons.

Storm Brewing: Vancouver’s Longest Running Craft Brewery

Located just north of E. Hastings St. on Commercial Drive lies Vancouver’s longest running craft brewery and another local favourite. Craft beer lovers travel far and wide to taste Storm beers in their epic tasting room and, given its location, it will provide the perfect stopover for you while shopping for Commercial Drive real estate.

Powell Street Craft Brewery: Home of Canada’s 2013 Beer of the Year

Just a few blocks north of the Commercial Drive neighbourhood is a true mom and pop craft brewery.  The husband and wife duo of David and Nicole opened the brewery’s doors in winter 2012 with the intent of creating small batch beers dedicated to quality not quantity.  Things began to change, however, when they received the Beer of the Year award from the Canadian Brewing Awards for Old Jalopy Pale Ale.   This obviously put Powell Street on the radar of all beer lovers, and the brewery remains a must visit to this day.

Parallel 49 Brewing Company: A True Local Love Story

Aside from the delicious products, one of the most endearing things about craft brewing is the local movement and pride behind the art.  If that is what draws you to the craft beer scene, look no further than Parallel 49 Brewing Company – where three of the founders grew up together less than ten minutes from the current location of their brewery.   Parallel 49’s beers are amongst the best in Vancouver, and the art on their bottles is also a sight to behold.  Located just outside of the Commercial Drive neighbourhood, this brewery provides another great hangout for locals and visitors alike.

There is something special about having a favourite brewery in your backyard –

a place where you truly feel like a local while also supporting your neighbourhood brewer.  If that is something that appeals to you, then you should start the Commercial Drive real estate search today.  This neighbourhood is home to, or in close proximity of, some of Vancouver’s best breweries.  Not only will this be a great asset as you establish yourself in your new home, but it will also make your real estate search with Team Kerr that much more fun!
