People are drawn to British Columbia and Vancouver for a wide variety of reasons, not the least of which is the variety of activities one can enjoy in the immediate area. Whether you have been a longtime Vancouver resident or are just starting to work with a Vancouver realtor to make this your new home you, too, will quickly realize how fun this corner of Canada can be. While the warmer months generally attract more visitors, there are countless ways to enjoy your winters here as well. As you continue to work with your Team Kerr East Van realtor through the home buying process in the coming months, take some time to enjoy winter in British Columbia. If you need suggestions, below are some of your Vancouver realtor team’s favourite winter activities.
Robson Square, the public plaza and civic centre in downtown Vancouver, is a must-visit destination any time of year but in winter it becomes even more special. As the temperatures drop and the snow starts to fly, the city installs one of the country’s most beautiful ice skating rinks. The open-air skating rink has a domed roof, and the sparkling lights at nighttime add even more magic to the air. While you are in town working with your East Van realtor this winter, be sure to lace up some skates and enjoy one of winter’s most fun activities.
The Polar Bear Plunge is arguably one of the crazier winter activities in Vancouver but, at the very least, it is definitely worth observing. On New Year’s Day, a handful of beaches around town host hundreds to thousands of eager swimmers looking to prove themselves in the icy waters around Vancouver. The swim at English Bay is the biggest event of its kind, but there are many other options to choose from – each offering something different. If you are feeling a tinge of craziness, register for one of these events, grab a costume, and join the other lunatics looking to brave the cold!
Given Vancouver’s location in the mountains of British Columbia, we would be remiss to not mention skiing as a favorite activity of many Vancouver realtors. Mt. Seymour, Grouse Mountain, and Cypress Mountain are just outside city limits. Each boasts different terrain, lift ticket specials, and fun activities year round. Additionally, Whistler Blackcomb is a short trip out of town and is one of the world’s finest big mountain resorts. No matter your skill level or experience, skiing in British Columbia should definitely be on your list of activities to enjoy this winter.
Winter is upon us, and your team of East Van realtors at Team Kerr couldn’t be more excited. If you find yourself working with us while shopping for a new home in the coming months, be sure to take some time to enjoy everything that winter in Vancouver has to offer!
