Vancouver has a lot going for it. An excellent music and arts scene, the hundreds of delicious restaurants and happening cafes and bars, countless festivals and events, and the melting pot of culture that calls this city home all contribute to making Vancouver one of the hippest places in Canada. The city itself is special, but the access it has to beautiful natural places is completely unrivalled. Our experts at Team Kerr have helped sell homes in virtually every neighbourhood in the city, and each neighbourhood boasts its own unique selection of parks and access to the outdoors. While Vancouver is full of beautiful green space within the city, the parks just outside of town are truly a sight to behold. Read on to discover three of our favorites!
Located east of the city at the base of Golden Ears Provincial Park is a forested escape perfect for anyone looking for a little experiential adventure. WildPlay has a handful of locations across the country and prides itself on aerial obstacle courses, high ropes games, ziplines, jumps, and a fully immersive nature experience. Whether you are looking for a fun date in the woods or want to take the family out into nature while giving the kids an adrenalin outlet and chance to confront their comfort zones, WildPlay is for you. If you are looking for a longer day out, WildPlay also has a location in forests of Victoria Island.

If you want to experience the coastal temperate rainforest in a unique way, but perhaps WildPlay is a bit much, check out Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. This park, beautifully nestled in old growth rainforest, boasts 7 different suspension bridges, walkways, and many viewing platforms secured high in the rainforest canopy – creating the perfect bird’s eye view for visitors. The crown jewel of the park is the Capilano Suspension Bridge itself, which spans 140 metres over the Capilano River 70 metres below. Maybe not the best for those afraid of heights but if you’re willing to put yourself out there the views are well worth it!

Lynn Canyon Park is the perfect place for those not seeking the adrenalin or exposure that WildPlay or Capilano have to offer. Instead, this park north of Vancouver boasts an ecology center, a plethora of hiking trails, beautiful waterfalls, picturesque swimming holes, and the perfect place to picnic or relax in the rainforest at your own pace. While only a short drive out of the city proper, an afternoon at Lynn Canyon Park will have you feeling like you are far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city you left behind.

Near the top of this list are the parks and dedicated green spaces both in the city and all over the surrounding area. While our family at Team Kerr could talk at length about why we love Vancouver so much, you should really just come and see for yourself!
