We’ve got your best bets for making the most of Queen Elizabeth Park. Often overlooked for it’s more famous counterpart, Stanley Park, Queen E Park is the jewel of East Vancouver. Nestled in the Cambie-Riley Park neighbourhood, it’s the perfect destination spot for families, running enthusiasts and nature-lovers alike.
The relative oasis in the heart of the city boasts over 6 million visitors a year, and isn’t short on activities rain or shine. Did you just buy a home in Vancouver? Then we have the insider’s guide to your new favourite spot:
Choose from the emerald Quarry Garden, the Arboretum featuring over 1500 trees from across Canada, and the traditional Rose Garden which was built to commemorate Canada’s Centennial.
The Bloedel Conservatory is a tropical paradise. The domed heritage building perches at the top of the park’s highest point and boasts over 120 free-flying exotic birds and 500 different types of flora. Inquire at the front desk for scavenger hunt maps available for children.
Even on a cloudy day, the bronze collection of 3 posed people–for a bronze photographer, no less–is the best spot in the park for a sweeping backdrop of the park and Vancouver skyline beyond. The sculpture was a gift from artist J. Seward Johnson, Jr.
Featuring expansive city views and Pacific Northwest-inspired cuisine, dining at Seasons in the Park is a Must Do. Inspired by fine European dining, the restaurant experience itself is unforgettable and the food delectable. Reservations aren’t required, but recommended.
Whether you go for one of the touristy options or simply amble among the manicured gardens along the park’s many trails, Queen Elizabeth Park is sure to offer endless afternoons of joy.
