It’s that time of year again when days grow shorter and family comes together in celebration of another beautiful year gone by. Whether you’re new to the neighbourhood and want to check out the community or selling soon and this is your last Christmas in Vancouver, the following will make it a season to remember. Our favourite festive activities around Metro Vancouver:
Kick off the holidays with Yaletown’s 5th annual free event, CandyTown. From 12 – 7pm, Saturday November 26 Mainland St will be turned into a winter wonderland, complete with Santa and the Ice Queen. Come to enjoy live street performances, shop handmade goods, and feast on local fare.
Celebrate the true meaning of Christmas: family drama with the Arts Club’s The Day Before Christmas live theatre. The comedy runs November 24th – December 24th; get your tickets here. Ballet BC’s seasonal classic The Nutcracker is making its annual debut at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre December 8 – 11th as well.
Or rather, round up the family for one of Vancouver’s many Christmas Fairs to buy your presents from local artisans. Shop by the light of the Olympic cauldron as the 7th Annual Vancouver Christmas Market is setting up shop at the Jack Poole Plaze starting November 26th. The Make It handmade shopping experience is coming to Vancouver December 8th for four days, and no Christmas shopping season would be complete without the Circle Craft Winter Market, November 9 – 13th.
Like many Vancouverites, your home is probably part of a strata and that means no real trees, or maybe your place is plain to small for a big, beautiful tree. Why not get in the community spirit and join the rest of this fair city in lighting our Christmas Tree together, back for its 10th year at Robson Square Friday, December 2nd. The Christmas Tree Lighting is a free, family-friendly event that has live entertainment and food along with the festivities.
Every evening starting November 26th, the world’s largest light maze will come to life between the Cambie Bridge and Olympic Village. Help Santa find his missing reindeer at Enchant, 55,000 sq ft of lights, which also features a Christmas Market and food vendors.
